Phishing, Vishing, and Smishing Module

Step 3 of 5

How to Prevent Phishing, Vishing, and Smishing

Prevention is Key!

  • Be Skeptical of Unsolicited Messages: - Whether it’s an email, text, or phone call, always be suspicious if you didn’t expect the communication. Legitimate companies will never ask for personal information via these methods.
  • Verify Links and Numbers: - If a link in an email or text looks suspicious, don’t click on it. Instead, go to the company’s website directly to check for any alerts. Similarly, if you receive a suspicious call, hang up and call the company using the phone number on their official website.
  • Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): - Turn on multi-factor authentication on your accounts. Even if a scammer gets your password, they won’t be able to access your account without the second layer of verification.

Question: What should you do if you get a suspicious text or email asking for personal information?
